They are different to antibiotics which destroy bacteria within the body, and from disinfectants, which destroy microorganisms found on non-living objects such as work surfaces and cutlery etc. Well known examples of antiseptic include: alcohol, boric acid, tea tree oil, iodine and hydrogen peroxide.
