Amoxicillin–Potassium Clavulanate
This drug combines two primary active ingredients: clavulanate and amoxicillin. The information in this article refers only to amoxicillin, as there are no documented interactions for clavulanate.
Amoxicillin is a member of the penicillin family of antibiotics. Amoxicillin is used to treat bacterial infections, including infections of the middle ear. The combination of amoxicillin/clavulanate (Augmentin) is an extended-spectrum anti-biotic used to treat bacterial infections resistant to amoxicillin alone.
