Try a bulk laxative
For results within 12 to 24 hours, take 5 to 10 grams per day of psyllium husk or 3 to 4 grams per day of glucomannan mixed in water, followed by a second glass of water
Get more fibre and water in your diet
To increase stool bulk, include more vegetables, beans, bran, linseed, and whole grains in your diet; don’t forget to drink more water when you increase fibre intake
Get a check-up
Constipation that starts suddenly should be evaluated by a healthcare professional to make sure no serious diseases are the cause
