Looking After Your Skin This Winter

Winter's officially arrived! Which means plummeting temperatures, boiling hot showers, harsh bitter winds and central heating cranked right up  - all things that unfortunately don't lead to a soft, radiant complexion. Tightness, dryness, flaking, chapping, itchiness - we've all been there (sometimes every year) and, like you, pondered whether having soft skin (not just for a temporary amount of time) and a glow in the winter is even a possibility?

The answer is yes, you can! But it does involve some time and dedication each day to make sure you're looking after your skin properly. Below are some simple tips to follow and this collection has all of our top winter skin care products in it so you can easily pick which ones apply best to you.

1. Keep hydrated! Water not only plumps the skin but it encourages collagen production which ensures the cohesion, elasticity and regeneration of skin.

2. When it comes to taking off your makeup and cleaning your face, try to avoid skin wipes; they're incredibly drying. Pick a kind face wash like the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Milk that'll calm your skin, gently get rid of dirt and won't leave your face with that horrible "stripped" feeling.

3. Cleansing is an important step in a healthy skincare regime. Not only does it help to remove impurities from your skin - dirt, excess oil, dead skin - it also hydrates and preps it for moisturisers, serums and masks.

4. Toner - again, sometimes we're torn when it comes to toning. Do you? Don't you? Truthfully, it’s a step you can skip as it's really just an extra benefit but do try it if you can. If your skin’s very dry, you must not use a toner that contains alcohol as it’s much too strong for you.

5. Moisturising - Winter skincare's saving grace, moisturising is essential but it's crucial that you get the right one for your skin type. Check in the descriptions that the moisturiser you're buying is definitely the one for your skin type.
And for any other particularly dry areas or problem skin we have skin rescues and creams below that can help for those tender areas.
